Daria Ltd T/A EJ Fidgeon is a registered contractor under the better Energy Homes scheme.

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) offers grant aid for installing heat pumps.  Full current details on heat pump grant eligibility are available here

In summary:
Grants of up to €12,500.00 are available towards upgrading your home’s heating system to a heat pump.   €6,500.00 towards the heat pump, €4,000.00 bonus if you are removing an oil or gas boiler and €2,000.00 towards replacing/upgrading radiators or other heat emitters.  The same grant amount is applicable to air to water and ground source heat pumps.

Grant of up to €6,500.00 if you are replacing an existing air to air heat pump or a ground source heat pump if you home’s heat pump was not grant aided previously.

Grant of up to €7,500.00 to install air to air heat pumps (such as mini split systems) but these units have to have cooling mode disabled in order to qualify for the SEAI grant.

Not every home is suitable for retrofitting a heat pump, if you have a high heat loss (and high gas or oil bill) then a heat pump will convert that into a high electricity bill.  Ideally you home will have underfloor heating and a low heat loss to benefit from lower running costs and better comfort with a heat pump.

Heat pumps will work with radiators, but the design (heat loss and piping sizing), installation and commissioning of the heat pump must be done correctly to get the best efficiency and lowest running costs from the system.

Ideally a technical assessment would be completed that gives a room by room heat loss and recommend home insulation upgrades to reduce the heat loss to the lowest amount possible.

If your home was built before 2007 and you have a current BER assessment that indicates a Heat Loss indicator (HLI) that is less than 2.3W (K.m2) than you do not need a technical assessment.

If you home was built from 2007 to 2020 then you do not need a technical assessment to fit a heat pump.  Your home will need to have a MPRN and must of been built and occupied before 2021 to qualify for any SEAI heat pump grant.

If you home was built or occupied from 2021 onwards, you are out of luck, no heat pump grants available.
